As students in the 21st century, we are faced with a society in which information is transparent, shared, and globalized. Compared with our parents, we have more resources and more ways to find resources. But when a lot of useful information pours into us, there will also be a lot of garbage and dross in it, blinding our eyes. As students, we need to choose the right way to study, live and work with the Internet. While acquiring knowledge on professional platforms, we should first verify the correctness of knowledge. But systematic learning can not only rely on the Internet but also on books.

Our digital identities become more secure under the protection of data privacy and security across platforms. This measure is necessary because the cost of communication on digital platforms is low, resulting in a lot of negative or false news early on. When the relevant regulations on data privacy and security are promulgated, we need to be responsible for our words and deeds on the Internet and it is no longer easy to disclose our private information.

If you want to be favored by employers through social platforms, you must run your own social platforms seriously. First of all, you have to have a certain following. It’s the cornerstone of your social platform’s value, and only a certain number of followers can get employers’ attention. Second, make your content relevant to employers, which can help you stand out from your peers. In addition, you need to have the intuition to catch the hot spots, and this intuition will keep you from being prematurely eliminated by the times.

First of all, identity, the scope covered by the term identity includes multiple dimensions such as culture, society, region, psychology, politics, belief and so on. At my current level, it is unrealistic to want to cover all aspects of identity. The identities I want to talk about today only take a small part of them. Identity is the state or society’s definition of a person.

Speaking of digital identities, the prevailing view is that after the popularization of the Internet, digital identities will follow. The development stages of digital identity have roughly gone through centralized identity, federated identity, user-centric identity, and autonomous sovereign identity.

To sum up, identity is the foundation of politics, economy, and culture, yet there are still tens of thousands of Internet participants who cannot prove their identity. “How to prove that I am who I am?” is a philosophy. In my case, I was a UVIC student first and then majored in economics. So I will use the knowledge circle of economics to create my digital identity, plus I am a UVIC student to make my digital identity more real. When creating my personal study space, having UVIC as a professional academic platform has brought me a lot of conveniences. I was able to join some online discussion groups with the help of this platform, where many colleagues and teachers exchanged opinions and answered my doubts. This experience helped me avoid detours on the academic road.

Another striking change over the past 20 years is that social media has become the way billions of people around the world communicate and, as a result, has created a more connected world. In my opinion, Social media allows more things to emerge from the ground up, and information is no longer a single flow from top to bottom. Everyone is their own media company, broadcasting to a specific group of people who follow/follow them. Social media has made the distribution of fame and attention more democratic, and with it comes a host of problems. So using social networks has two sides.

On the positive side, you can speak for your interests on various platforms, so as to get more information, which helps you to have a more comprehensive understanding of what you are interested in.
